
Veonet Ireland Eye Casualty Service at Dublin Carrickmines provides same-day appointments for patients (over 16) requiring immediate ophthalmic attention. Designed specifically to support optometrists and GPs, this service ensures that patients with acute or possible sight-threatening eye issues receive same day specialist-led care without delay.
Open Monday to Friday, 8am to 3:30pm

When to Refer
- Sudden loss or reduction of vision
- Painful red eye or severe ocular discomfort
- Acute flashes or floaters
- Suspected retinal tear/detachment
- Corneal foreign bodies or abrasions
- Double vision
- Acute eye swelling
- Raised intraocular pressure or acute glaucoma
Please note: Patients with perforating eye injuries or open-globe trauma should be directed to A&E immediately. If unsure please call +353 (1) 270 7990
Presenting conditions include:
- Subconjunctival haemorrhage
- Conjunctivitis
- Episcleritis
- Anterior Uveitis/ Iritis
- Blepharitis (to include lid hygiene instructions)
- Chalazion
- Corneal infections – microbial keratitis
- Corneal ulcer
- Contact lens related corneal infection/conditions
- Posterior Vitreous Detachment
- Retinal tear
- Retinal detachment
- Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration
- Chemical eye injuries
- Acute allergies
