Thanks to the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme, eligible patients can have up to €1,312 reimbursed by the HSE, which includes €194 for a consultation appointment and €1,118 for cataract surgery.
With no hidden fees, our Cross-Border Cataract package costs only €2,000 per eye, which includes Pre and post operative appointments, comprehensive diagnostics and Surgery. This can be through separate visits or on consecutive days.

Who can apply for Cross-Border HSE funding?
To qualify for the scheme you must:

You must be living in the Republic of Ireland for at least one year or have the intention to do so

You must be eligible for public healthcare in the Republic of Ireland’s health system

You need a referral from your GP or a letter confirming you are on a public waiting list for the planned treatment

Mr Prateek Agarwal
Consultant Ophthalmologist
Mr Agarwal is a highly experienced Substantive Consultant at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. With a remarkable record of performing over 1500 eye surgeries per year, he has developed a special interest in cornea and refractive surgery.
An accomplished academic, Mr Agarwal serves as a lecturer, examiner, and tutor, and has authored 25 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a sought-after speaker, regularly presenting at prestigious national and international congresses on cataract and refractive surgery.
As the Chief Educational Supervisor for trainees at the trust, he guides the next generation of Ophthalmologists. He also serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Laser Refractive Surgery assessment process. With his dedication to clinical excellence, education, and research, Mr Agarwal is committed to delivering the highest standard of care to his patients.

Mr Ahmed Saad
Consultant Ophthalmologist
Mr Saad is a leading Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal surgeon, who specialises in cataract surgery, lens replacement surgery and retinal surgery alongside macular hole, uveitis and epiretinal membrane. His NHS base is South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Highly qualified, with an MBBCh, MSc and MD from Zagazig University in Zagazig, Egypt, and multiple fellowships. These include an FICOphth, an MRCSEd, an FRCSGlas and an FRCSEd, an FRCOpth, and CrtLRS.
He completed his higher retinal sub-specialty training through two fellowships in medical retina and uveitis, and vitreoretinal surgery, at Bristol Eye Hospital.
